Vehicle Description:
1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider series 101 03,
VIN Number: AR171830
SCCA Chassis # 82-010 with the original Central Division SCCA log book
dated 4-14-71 (10th car in CenDiv to get a log book!)
Great History!!
HISTORY:
Raced since 60s, probably since new by the first owner, "Fast Eddy" Wachs who had the car prepared by Horst Kwech and Ron Neal at AUSCA, and
who had good success with the car. He sold the car in 1965 to Dick
Jenkins , among his many successes this was his Runoffs car at Riverside
in 1968 and Daytona in 1969, where he had the pole position the race and
led all but the last lap. At the June Sprints, at Road America, his was
pole car at least twice. As well the car was maintained for him by AUSCA.
He successfully raced the car in the Central Division SCCA, until it was
sold to Trevor and Tom Bailey in 1971, who subsequently sold it to Don
Smith in 1973 who sold it to Jim Arthurs in 1974. Jim credits all of the
updated (at the time) beautiful fabrication including the roll cage,
custom headers, motor mounts, fuel cell mounts and MSD console to Ron
Rizor his friend in Ann Arbor who is obviously a true craftsman. The
fender flares came from Dave Rugh. Jim raced the car through 1991, when
it was purchased by Curtis Woods who put the car into storage.
The car has a total of 5 log books,3 SCCA Log Books, dating back to 1971
when that Region first started requiring them, and one log book each
originating Midwest Counsel, and WHRRI .
I have the original Illinois title which has been signed over three
times since it was originally registered, and the other transfers made
in the back of the SCCA log books.
Chassis:
The chassis while rust free, and square was raced for a lot of years.
Last raced in 1991 and properly stored, this car sat for 15 years in an
attached home garage. This was a seriously prepared F and E Production
National level car when parked, and is still beautiful. I have stripped
and refinished the car's underside & refurbished the suspension and
driveline.
The cage is gorgeous and safe for vintage, but no longer SCCA legal,
although it would not take a lot to make it so. Very nicely fabricated,
pro quality welded, and gusseted cage with under dash loop.
Some of the cars equipment is listed below:
